Well with all these problems involving selling gold, why hasn’t Blizzard done something? I believe they probably are working on a solution but believe it not, farmers do make up about 30% of their population. Somewhere in the back of their mind I’m sure they don’t want to get rid of all subscribers. What they do instead is ban a few at a time and they would be required to buy a new World of Warcraft CD Key. Extra cash flow for the mighty O Blizzard. Yes farmers and sellers do get their accounts banned. But have not heard of any buyers getting banned however. Lucky for us?

As some of you may know, another popular mmorpg publisher is Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) with their many leading titles including the first MMORPG hit EverQuest, Star Wars Galaxies, and EverQuest 2. Why am I bringing up SOE? Because they have introduced the Sony Exchange. The Sony Exchange is a secure market place for players to auction their currencies and items to other players for real cash. In return SOE of course takes in a small fee for themselves. Charming isn’t it? Well along with this new innovative idea, they also of plans of releasing a new game where they will be selling currencies and items themselves. That pretty much just beats the second paragraph of not cheating. But of course I’m sure they will create specific servers where the purchasing/selling of virtual assets will not be allowed.

If SOE is getting into the secondary market why can’t the players? I do wonder if Blizzard should decide to get into the secondary market themselves. Believe it or not, but World of Warcraft subscriber base more than quadruples what SOE has in total. As you can see SOE is accepting the new trend and making a huge load of profit, I’m sure Blizzard would follow up on the idea as well. EverQuest was the first mmorpg hit ever, Blizzard known for their real time strategy games now has the most popular mmorpg as well. I wouldn’t see why they won’t follow and collect some of the cash themselves. Overall, although we do not know of Blizzards intentions for those who Buy WoW Gold, I can say for sure that I do not know a single person who has gotten their accounts banned for buying WoW gold. It looks like today IS the Wrath of the Lich King beta day. We’ve just learned that the beta opt-in for WotLK is now live in Europe.

As for North America, there’s also some good news. Eyonix reminded players to “stay tuned,” as the beta signups for that region are coming “super soon.”

Tickets for the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment Worldwide Invitational convention and gaming tournament, being held this year at the Porte de Versailles Exposition Center in Paris, France, will go on sale on March 20.

Blizzard have added to the PTR patch notes again, here are the changes:

Druids

• Lifebloom healing coefficient has been reduced.
  
• Many shapeshift form tooltips have been updated to be consistent with each other.
  
• Natural Perfection: This ability will no longer be triggered by taking critical strikes while sitting. In addition, it is now affected by the Subtlety talent and reduces damage by 2/3/4%, down from 1/3/5%.
  
• Nurturing Instinct increases your healing spells by up to 50/100% of your Agility, and increases healing done to you by 10/20% of your Attack Power while in Cat form.

Hunter

• Improved Mend Pet now has a 50/100% chance to remove one Curse, Disease, Magic, or Poison effect, up from 15/50%.

Mages

• Arcane Fortitude now increases your armor by an amount equal to 100% of your Intellect, up from 50%.
  
• Blink, Slow, and Spellsteal have all had their mana cost reduced.
  
• Icy Veins no longer stacks with Bloodlust/Heroism.
  
• Improved FireWard has become Molten Shields.
  
• New Talent: Molten Shields will cause your Fire Ward to have a 10/20% chance to reflect Fire spells while active. In addition, your Molten Armor has a 50/100% chance to affect ranged and spell attacks.

Paladins

• Resistance Auras: It is no longer possible for two Paladins in the same party to make it appear that players have two of the same resistance aura active.
  
• Righteous Defense: This spell will now always be castable on friendly npcs.
  
• Seal of Blood: This ability will no longer cause spell pushback for the Paladin with this seal active.
  
• Turn Undead(Rank 3):This spell has been reworked and has been renamed to ¡°Turn Evil¡±. It will now work on Demons in addition to Undead. Turn Evil is subject to diminishing returns, and lasts 10 seconds in PvP.

Priests

• Chastise no longer disorients the target, but now is instant cast and roots the target for 2 seconds.
  
• Focused Will now reduces damage by 2/3/4%, down from 1/3/5%.
  
• Power Infusion: Infuses the target with power, increasing their spell haste by 20% for 15 seconds.

Rogues

• Improved Backstab is now called Puncturing Wounds.
  
• Puncturing Wounds increases your critical strike chance with Backstab by 10/20/30%, and the critical strike chance with your Mutilate ability by 5/10/15%.
  
• Improved Sprint: This ability will now always remove Entangling Roots.

Shaman

• Ghost Wolf: Cast time reduced to 2 seconds, down from 3.
  
• Nature¡¯s Swiftness and Elemental Mastery now share a 10 second cooldown.
  
• Tremor Totem now pulses every 3 seconds, down from 4.

Warlocks

• Blood Pact now has a tooltip.
  
• Demonic Sacrifice: Now works properly in sanctuary regions (such as Shattrath City and the Stair of Destiny).

Arenas

• Matchmaking: If a queued player has a personal rating higher than their team rating, the matchmaking system will now use the highest personal rating of a queued member of that team for matchmaking purposes, instead of the team rating.

Alterac Valley

• There is now a Join as Party option.

Alchemy

• Transmute Arcanite no longer has a cooldown.

Fishing

• Feltail fishing nodes have been changed to Brackish Mixed Schools; they now produce mostly Golden Darters and some Feltail.

Items

• Darkmoon Card: Madness: The buffs from this item will no longer interrupt casting and channeling.
  
• Druid Restoration PvP Sets: The bonus movement speed for Bear, Cat, and Travel Form has been removed and replaced with a new bonus to Regrowth.
  
• Shaman Elemental PvP Sets: The resistance on Lightning Bolt spell pushback has been reduced to 50%.

User Interface

• Searching for an item in the tradeskill search box should now hide empty categories.

World Environment

• Eye of Culuthas and Hound of Culuthas now drop grey loot.

The Halifax bank in the U.K. has halted credit card payments to Blizzard as a result of overly-frequent use of stolen credit cards to pay for World of Warcraft subscriptions.

“We have seen a significant number of fraudulent transactions through Blizzard’s gaming sites,” the bank said in a statement. “We have, therefore, blocked the majority of Visa/MasterCard transactions we receive from there in order to combat this.” The bank added that the decision to block subscription payments for the popular MMOG was not the fault of Blizzard or its billing system, blaming the problem entirely on “users utilizing stolen credit card details to pay for subscriptions.”

World of Warcraft players who hold legitimate Halifax credit cards and wish to use them to make payments for the game can arrange to do so by contacting the bank directly. “If a customer does want to subscribe to a game site operated by Blizzard, using a Halifax or Bank of Scotland credit card, we can arrange for the payments to be processed for them if they contact us,” the bank said.

Brit Michael, a Halifax customer currently living in Canada, first reported the incident to The Register after discovering he could no longer use his credit card to pay for his game subscription. At the time, the bank told him its fraud analysts “made the decision to decline all Blizzard transactions due to the high volume of fraud and a high incidence of compromised details.”
